  Chapter 1 - Potchy

Potchy is also known as Oliver. He sleeps all day, and he is a very mean predator to squirrels. Wait, did I say squirrels? Anyway, this book is written between two worlds: Oliver’s World and my world, where I tell part of the story and he tells part of it. This is the first chapter, meant to introduce you to the true meanings of the time we’re in together. I have given Oliver a million names, non of which he never understands. Like they say, you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, can you?

The only reason I’m writing this book is because I don’t want to upset my Dad, who recently banned me from creating websites. I have to get some pictures of Ruby, too, for the next book. Ruby is Dad’s dog, named after my birthstone. I don’t like disappointing my Dad or my Mom, because they just don’t really treat me right after I’ve done something. But let me tell you something: If you’re a girl who is not related to me, DON’T LAY A FINGER ON RUBY!!. It’s not because she’ll bite you, she’s sincerely loving to people of the outside world. But the reason is, she stinks.!

Oliver, unlike Ruby, has been smelling pretty good lately, because he’s been at Grandma’s house. Grandma lives right next door to my Mom’s house, which has caused many arguments over the past, but we are in the process of working those out. Grandma claims that she doesn’t really claim Potchy as a loved family member, but to tell the truth, we’ve all caught her having a good time with him, I mean, yesterday she took him to the store. He LOVES the car, and he LOVES going for rides, unlike the cat at my dad’s named Pumpkin, who I have also given a million names. Have I ever taken him for a ride? Yes, I have, but only when I was little, when my mom had to drive me to see the vet.

One thing I want to get straight: Potchy/Oliver is a Jack Russell terrior, and you just don’t know the pain it takes to keep him from making holes to get under our fence in our backyard. And, it also gets annoying with the whole, “When someone’s there, I have to go to the window and bark my face off at them, and when I don’t get outside the time that their there, I have to whine about it.” Well, he doesn’t know better, so might as not complain about it. The park is Oliver’s favorite place to be, because when I take him there, I explore different parts of the park. One time, I was there too long, and I couldn’t find my way out! Well, gladly someone from my neighborhood had found me there, and I asked her how to get out. The answer wasn’t so simple: I just had to figure out the hill ahead of me was the way back to Rosedale.

Oliver was very thirsty when we got back. And my dad was right: If I’m out in the sun too long, I shrivel up, too. Me and Oliver were glad to get back to Grandma’s to get a nice long drink of water. I was thinking back at the park that somehow the park had been reversed, then flipped around, because some of the same stuff was there, but not all of it. I felt very, uh, dry when I got back, because I was pure white when my mom took a look at me. Now, for most of that summer, me and Oliver had a great time sleeping in, going to the park, and doing great stuff that we wouldn’t normally do while I was off the computer. Tot ell you the truth, Summer 2011 was the best summer of my life. Things changed me dramatically over that period of time, and now Oliver is resting on our loveseat while I type up this book that I want to publish.

Now, I’m taking ona new form of writing. One form is between me and Potchy’s world. One of use will tell one part of the story, while the other will tell the other part of the story. This begins a whole new package of fun for you to read, and provides a clean, easy weigh-in on a dog’s life. I plan on making things better between me and Oliver, and I also plan on taking pictures of him. You’ve probably seen him once on our love-seat on the title page, haven’t you? We are working hard, me and him. I would tell any parent to get their 4-year-old a puppy from a dog breeder. This is the best way to do this, because the puppy will learn to be that little kid’s companion.

Now, don’t get me wrong here. I’ve been an avid dog lover for years. I’ve realized that Jack Russells are the cutest type of dog I’ve ever seen. It must be because I’m related to my parents, who have given me time to adopt dogs. Usually, once you get older, you realize you don’t want a dog anymore, but because I know that by now, I’m going to start keeping dogs forever, until I’m dead and gone. Oliver’s a smart dog; he has several ways of spotting squirrels, especially since he has ways of smelling them, chasing them, and spotting them.

I just took Olliver over to Grandma’s and came back home. Let’s begin, shall we?
